History of the appellation: The Fleurie cru is an A.O.C (appellation d’origine contrôlée) since 1936. The cru's total area covers 855 hectares.

Variety: Black Gamay with white juice

Color: Red only

Type of soil: Pink granite

Location of vineyard plots: Exposure: East

Location of plots: Grand Pré

Average age of vines: 50 years

Growing method: Head-pruning, shredded vine shoots, several trellised parcels, 25% grass-seeded, narrow tractor for mechanical work.

Winemaking method: Beaujolais winemaking with controlled temperatures, 8-12 day vatting period.

Harvesting methods: Manual harvesting for all beaujolais A.O.C..

Wine aging: It is aged in stainless steel or epoxy coated cement vats for 7 months, then bottled during the months of April-May. Some prestige vintages are aged in vats for 9 to 12 months.

Average shelf life: 4 to 6 years

Tasting: Floral, fruity notes of iris, violet, rose, red fruits and vine peaches. Its taste qualities combine elegance and finesse with a smooth full body. Develops spicy notes over the years.
