History of the appellation: The Régnié cru is an A.O.C (appellation d’origine contrôlée) since 1988.The cru's total area covers 400 hectares.

Variety: Black Gamay with white juice

Color: Red only

Type of soil: Granitic sand and pebbles containing a variable proportion of clay

Location of vineyard plots: On slopes, Southeastern exposure

Location of plots: Les cotes, les Rampaux

Average age of vines: 40 years

Growing method: Head-pruning, shredded vine shoots, several trellised parcels, 25 % grass-seeded, narrow tractor for mechanical work.

Winemaking method: Beaujolais winemaking with controlled temperatures, 7-10 day vatting period.

Harvesting methods: Manual harvesting for all beaujolais A.O.C.

Wine aging: It is aged in stainless steel or epoxy coated cement vats for 7 months, then bottled during the months of April-May. Some prestige vintages are aged in vats for 9 to 12 months.

Average shelf life: 3 to 4 years

Tasting: A fragrant, round wine that releases a pleasant long finish on the palate. A cherry and ruby color. It has raspberry, red currant, prune, blackberry and black currant aromas with a spicy, mineral note. Subtle balance fresh red fruits structured by delicate tannins.
